Monday night saw the Wallaceburg Lakers losing streak continue as they lost 4 - 3 to the Wheatley Sharks in Great Lakes Jr. C hockey league action.
Wheatley took a 3 - 0 lead after two periods of play with one goal in the first and two in the second with Sebastian Kannally, Austin Thompson and Austin Fontaine scoring. Third period saw the Lakers battle back and scored two goals to narrow the Sharks lead. Evan Weidenback scored both goals the first on a power play. Fontaine scored his second goal of the night for the Sharks midway into the final period to go up 4 - 2. The Lakers continue to press and with :29 seconds remaining Justin Whitson scored for the Lakers but time ran out and the Lakers took their eighth loss of the season.
Wheatley outshot Wallaceburg 25 - 19. Joel Sowinski took the loss in net with 21 saves. Conner MacKinnon earned the win with 16 saves.
Wallceburg went one for four on the power play, Wheatley went zero for two.
The Lakers are looking for their first win tonight (Wed Oct 8) in Wallaceburg when they host the Dresden Kings at 7:30 pm.
