SAGINAW, MI- The Sarnia Sting travelled to Saginaw on Saturday night to take on the Spirit in their third game in as many nights.

The Sting had defeated the Spirit just two nights earlier by a score of 6-3 on the strength of a pair of Nikita Korostelev and Nikolay Goldobin goals.

Taylor Dupuis stood large in the Sting net on this night making 49 saves to lead the Sting to a 5-3 win.

The win would give the Sting four out of a possible six points on the weekend.

A strong first period helped propel the Sting as they would score the only two goals of the opening 20 minutes.

Craig Duininck opened the scoring on the power play and Nickolas Latta would also tally in the first period.

The Spirit came out strong in the second period where Dupuis made several big saves before Dylan Sadowy would find the back of the net narrowing the Sting lead to 2-1.

Once again it would be the power play that would help the Sting restore the two goal cushion when Anthony DeAngelo streaked down the left side before cutting in on the net and beating Spirit netminder Jake Paterson to make it 3-1 after 40 minutes.

In the third the Sting would come out flying and would be rewarded immediately as Bryan Moore found the back of the net behind Paterson to give the Sting an even bigger cushion and a 4-1 lead.

Tyler Hore would put the game well out of reach with his first goal of the season late in the 3rd to make it 5-1.

Kristoff Kontos would  score twice to round out the scoring including one just as the game expired to make the final 5-3.

The Sting are back in action on Wednesday night when they travel to Sault Ste. Marie to take on the first place Greyhounds.
