Predators Get First Win of The Season

Lambton Shores Predators had a pair of games over the weekend with the first at home on Saturday against the Strathroy Rockets where the Rockets shut out the Preds 3 - 0.

 

Both sides were scoreless after the first period then the Rockets added a single in the second and two more in the third.  Max Naus scored two goals in the win and Wes Baker scored a single.

 

The Rockets went scoreless on eight power play opportunities, the Preds went zero for three.

 

The Rockets outshot the Predators 43 - 30.  Goaltender Tynan Lauziere earned the win making 30 saves, Justin Fazio made 40 for the Preds.

 

On Sunday The Predators celebrated their first win of the season by holding on to a 5 - 4 win over the Chatham Maroons. 

After the first period of play both sides were even with 2 goals each.  Chatham got on board first with a goal at 4:16 by Trevor Richardson.  The Preds first goal was scored at 10:40 by John Warren and Warren struck again at 17:01 with his second goal on the power play.  In the last minute of play Richardson scored his second for Chatham also on a power play.

 

In the second period the Preds took the lead for the first time at 2:05 with Matt Ross scoring.  Chatham answered back at 5:46 for the tie.  Mark Fratarcagelli scored in the second for Chatham.

 

In the third Nick Sproveiro regain the lead for the Preds scoring at 5:13 but only to have Chatham steal it away :20 seconds later.  Battle continued and at 8:07 Steven Beenackers scored what turned out to be the winning goal at 8:07.  Beenackers had a 4 point night with 1 goal and 3 assists. With lots of time remaining in the game the Preds held on to earn their first win of the season.

 

Lambton Shores went one for two on the power play, Chatham went one for seven.  Chatham outshot the Preds 56 - 31.

 

Next up the Predators will travel to London on Wednesday Sept 25 then back at home on Saturday September 28 when they host St. Marys.  Both game times at 7:30 pm.
