On Friday, the Northern Jr. Vikings started their 2013 season with a big win over a St. Clair Colts team that fought hard from start to finish.
On the Vikings' first possession, Greg Bressette caught a perfect Keyshaun Jordan pass for a 70 yard touchdown play. Jordan kicked the extra point. At 7:30 of the first quarter, the Vikings' Nick Day took a St. Clair punt back to the Colts' 34 yard line. A couple of plays later, Keyshaun Jordan kept the ball on a 20 yard run, and Zach Doxilly then capitalized for the Vikings with a 5 yard run into the endzone. Jordan's extra point attempt was blocked. On the ensuing kickoff, the Colts conceded a point in the endzone, to make the score 14-0 Vikings.
The 2nd quarter began for the Vikings with Doxilly taking the ball on a 40 yard run to the endzone. The extra point attempt was wide. At 4:58 of the 2nd quarter, Vincent Ham pursued a Vikings' punt into the Colts' endzone, tackling the St. Clair player for a point. Near the end of the 1st half, the Colts kicked the ball through the endzone for a single. The Vikings ended the half with a 55 yard pass and run play between Jordan and Bressette. Jordan made good on the extra point.
Early in the 3rd quarter, a big Vikings' pass and a St. Clair penalty brought Northern to the Colts' 22 yard line. Andrew Bradshaw took the next play into the endzone for a Vikings' touchdown. A broken play on the extra point attempt led to a two point conversion for the Vikings. With 4:00 remaining in the 3rd, Zach Doxilly carried the ball 45 yards for the Vikings, putting another major on the board. The extra point attempt was unsuccessful, and the Vikings led 42-1.
A scoreless 4th quarter finished the game with the Vikings on top 42-1.
