Toronto, ON – The Ontario Hockey League announced details for the inaugural OHL Goaltending Coaches Conference scheduled for Saturday June 7 at UOIT in Oshawa, ON.
The Goaltending Coaches Conference will be open to 30 participants and will run in association with the inaugural Minor Hockey Coaches Conference held the same day.
The program will be led by OHL Goaltending Consultant and current Ottawa Senators Goaltending Coach Rick Wamsley along with OHL member team coaches, and members of the OHL’s Goaltender Advisory Board that includes Fred Brathwaite (Hockey Canada), Sebastien Farrese (Belleville Bulls), Kory Cooper (Mississauga Steelheads), and David Belitski (OHL Central Scouting).
“I am looking forward to the opportunity to share my knowledge, experience, and beliefs with all OHL goalie coaches and minor hockey volunteers in the pursuit of quality goaltender development throughout the province,” said OHL Goaltending Consultant Rick Wamsley.
Included in the program is an on-ice component where participants will have the opportunity to review industry ‘best practices’ for goaltending coaches. Participants will later be provided a DVD of all drills that were demonstrated during the practice session.
The conference is open to any goaltending coach registered within the OHF, HEO, or HNO, coaching Pee-Wee ‘AAA’, Minor Bantam and Major Bantam ‘AE to AAA’, Minor Midget to Midget ‘AE to AAA’ as well as any goaltending coach registered with the OHA. A total of 30 spots are available at a program cost of $200 that includes an OHL welcome gift, all printed materials, and lunch. The one day program will also provide all participants with an inaugural Goaltender Coach Certification in partnership with Hockey Canada.
