Legionnaires Held Pre-Season Camp

monday august 25, 2014

The Sarnia Legionnaires Jr B Hockey tryouts began this weekend and ended with their annual Black and White game on Sunday afternoon.
The roster was downsized to forty skaters including four goalies after a weekend of tryouts.

"It was a great weekend a lot of good talent out there." Head Coach Dan Rose said  "Our vets are ready to go. They showed up ready to play and there are three or four other prospects that might fill one or two spots."

Skaters in the lineup for Team Black were PJ Vandervaart, Peter Cabala, Colton Osborne, Cameron Clarke, Uriy Kobzev, Brad Campbell, Tyler Longo, Shawn Mouvis, Franco Sproviero, Jarret Marks, Davis Boyer, Riley Babkirk, Austin Hewton, Brett Corrigan, Cody Trowell, Riley Roberts, Henry Frontini and Artem Lubyanoi.

On Team White were Calvin Hughson, Gino Mini, Sam McCormack, Jeff King, Brent Blais, Tyler Prong, Nathan Mater, Bob King, Jeff Williams, Anton Trvblin, Jay Clarke, Hunter Tyczynski, Justin Vanbuskirk, Alec DeKoning, Jordan Fogarty, Brandon Layman and Ryan Lyle.

Goaltenders for Team Black were Anthony Hurtubise and Cornel Felder and for Team White Shayne Battler and Riley Collins.

"The goaltending was fine today." Rose said "Sometimes there is not a lot of defence out there. Our veterans are moving the puck around pretty quick so the puck ended up in the back of the net but that wasn't always the goalie fault. I thought all four goaltenders played well in the inter-squad game. They all made some nice saves."

Team Black took the win with a final score of 7 - 4. Cody Trowell led Team Black with 2 goals and Sawn Moulins scored a single and credited with an assist.. Other goal scorers included singles by PJ Vandervaart, Peter Gabala, Shawn Moulin, Davis Boyer and Riley Roberts.  Earning assists on the goals were Davis Boyer (2), Brad Campbell, Riley Babkirk and Riley Roberts.

For Team White Bob King scored twice, Nathan Mater and Alec DeKoning scored one each.  Jeff King and Brandon Layman assisted on two goals and Jay Clarke assisted on one.
