Sting add Assistant Coach, Chris Lazary, Goaltending Coach, Patrick Desrochers, and Scout, Dylan Seca to Hockey Operations Department.
Sarnia Sting General Manager, Nick Sinclair, today announced changes within the Hockey Operations Department through three different additions. Today is a very exciting day for the Hockey Club, being able to add three quality individuals to the Sting family in Chris Lazary, Patrick Desrochers, and Dylan Seca.
Chris Lazary, former head coach of the Waterloo Siskins Jr. B team (GOJHL), has been hired as an Assistant Coach with the team. Last season, as Head Coach of the Waterloo Jr. B Siskins Chris led one of the youngest teams in the GOJHL to the Finals of the Sutherland Cup.
Prior to his tenure with the Siskins, Lazary spent time coaching with the York University Men’s Hockey team as an assistant coach, St. Michael’s Buzzers Jr. A (OJHL) as an assistant coach, Toronto Titans Midget AAA team as a Head Coach, Toronto Marlboros’s AAA as an Associate Coach, and Whitby Wildcats AAA as an Associate and Head Coach.
Sinclair states “Chris brings an incredible work ethic and passion for the game. He has experience coaching at a number of different levels, with proven success, and is going to be a valuable addition to our coaching staff going forward.”
The Sting have also added Patrick Desrochers as their new goaltending coach. Patrick takes over for Dave Rook, who has gone on to pursue an opportunity at the pro level. The Sting would like to thank Dave Rook for his services over that past year and wish him the best of luck in his new endeavors.
Desrochers was a first round pick for the Sarnia Sting in 1995, playing three and a half seasons with the Sting before finishing off his OHL career in Kingston. In 1998, Patrick was drafted by the Phoenix [Arizona] Coyotes in the first round of the National Hockey League (NHL) Draft. His playing career included stints in the NHL with the Coyotes and the Carolina Hurricanes, as well as their farm teams in the American Hockey League (AHL). After his career in North America, Desrochers went on to play for 7 years in Europe; 2 in Germany, 1 in Austria, and 4 in Norway where his team captured the league championship in 2008/09. He has represented Canada at several international events including a gold medal performance at the World U18 tournament, and a silver medal finish at the Spangler Cup in Switzerland.
With the addition of Patrick, the Sting are bringing a former alumni back into the fold. Sinclair states, “Patrick has a wealth of playing experience at the junior and pro levels. As a former first round NHL draft pick, Patrick will be a very influential member of our program both on and off the ice.”
Sinclair also notes that the Sting have added Dylan Seca to their scouting staff. Dylan has spent the last 6 seasons with the Ottawa 67’s, most recently carrying the role of Director of Player Development. “Dylan is a quality individual with a great eye for talent, and is going to be a solid addition to our scouting staff.”
The Sting would also like to note that they will be retaining the services of Assistant Coach Derek Dimuzio. Dimuzio’s role with the team will now shift to the press box where he will be a key eye in the sky and evaluator for the Sting coaching staff.
With today’s announcement, the Sting would like to officially welcome Chris, Patrick, and Dylan to the Sting organization.
