Doubleheader Cat Fight at Lambton College

It was a battle
between the Cats as the Lambton
Lions hosted the Sault Ste.
Marie Cougars for a OCCA
doubleheader basketball weekend.
The Lions were
the strongest as both Lambton
Ladies and Men's teams went 2 -
0.
For the Ladies they met on
Saturday for their first game
and took a 73-42 win.
Lambton led 33-17 at the half,
dominated in the 3rd quarter
27-10 and in the 4th the Cougars
out scored them 16-13.
Paige Johnston and Amanda Orr
led the Lions scoring 18 points
each. Madisyn Campbell
scored 16. For the Cougars
Renelle Carriere and McKenzie
Kearns each scored 12 points.
In game two on
Sunday the Lambton Ladies earned
their second win with a final
score of 77 - 33. They
took a 46-23 lead at the half.
The teams played a closer 3rd
quarter with Lambton scoring
31-30 and in the final quarter
Sault Ste. Marie outshot the
Lions 21-15.
Riley Williams
was the top point scorer for
Lambton with 17 points.
Amanda Orr scored 13 and Paig
Johnston and Meliisa Ellis each
scored 12 points.
For Sault Ste
Marie Teija Humalmaki was the
top point scorer in the game
with 20. Renelle Carriere
added 15 points.
The Women are now 3-6 heading
into the Christmas Break.
On the men's side
the Lions defeated the Cougars
84-63 on Saturday and in the
second game on Sunday came out
on top with a final score of
80-65.
In Saturday's
game Brandon Padgett was the top
point scorer with 29, Mike
Lucier scored 16. Lucier met a
milestone in his college career
hitting the 1,000 point mark in
this game.
Tyrell Hoyme lead the Cougars
with 14 points and Javier
Stephenson added 11.
Sunday's stats were not
available at post time.
The Lambton men
finished the first half of the
season with a recored of
5-4 for 4th place in the West
Division.
