The Sarnia Atom B Girls played two road games this weekend. The first
game was Saturday
morning in Belle River
against the Lakeshore
Lightning. It was a very
hard fought victory for
the girls, with tight
checking at both ends of
the rink. The final
score was Sarnia 2,
Lakeshore 0.
Scoring for Sarnia was
Makayla Barclay and
Heather McIntosh (empty
net). Peyton Burgess
picked up the shut out.
On Sunday the girls were back in St. Thomas to play the Panthers, in a
rematch of last weekends
tournament final. The
final score was Sarnia
3, St. Thomas 1. Lauren
Jackson scored all three
goals for Sarnia. The
team "playmaker" award
went to Makayla Barclay,
with 2 assists,
including an incredibly
unselfish pass on a two
player breakaway to set
up the second goal.
Robyn Storey added 2
assists and Cadence
MacDonald one.
Next weekend the girls have one game, in Strathroy vs the Bluewater
Hawks.

Due to ice time limitations last weekend, the St. Thomas tournament
officials were unable to
perform an on ice medal
ceremony after the
championship game. In a
very classy move, the
tournament director
attended the game on
Sunday to present the
Sarnia girls their gold
medals and the St.
Thomas girls their
silver medals on the ice
in front of all the
families and fans.
