Valhalla Bantams Silver Medalist in Niagara Falls

The Sarnia Valhalla Major Bantam Girls basketball team brought home a silver medal when they travelled to Niagara Falls on Feb 7-8th to take part in the Niagara Raiders Tournament.

The girls had their first win Saturday morning against the Pelham Panthers with a score of 33-18.

Top scorers were Avery Bathe-Minard with 13, 9 points from Madison Sawatzky and 6 from Sarah Johnston.

The second game saw the Valhalla Vikings come out strong against the Ancaster Magic team. Valhalla led the entire game with a final 40-31 victory. Top scoring players were Sarah Johnston with 10, Avery Bathe-Minard with 7 and Amber Harding with 6.

These wins put them into the Saturday night gold medal game against the host team Niagara Rangers. After a hard fought game the Valhalla Vikings would bring home the silver medal.

Top scorers in the final match were, Avery Bathe-Minard with 15, Sarah Johnston with 9.

The girls have a week off, then are in Cambridge for their next tournament.
