SCITS Edged Out Dresden in SWOSSA A/AA Semi-Final

SCITS Blue Bombers defeated the Dresden Cardinals 3 - 2 in Semi-final SWOSSA final Wednesday afternoon at the Sarnia Arena.


"That was an unbelievable game,  the boys played very well."  SCITS head coach Nathan Jeffery said  "Dresden played excellent. You couldn't really pick a loser in that game as both teams played very well."

 

After the first period both sides remained scoreless.  The Blue Bombers took a 1 - 0 lead at 7:06 in the second period by Alec Segers with Aiden Chapdelain assisting.  Dresden answered back :38 seconds later to tie with Tyler Hotham scoring. 

 

 

In the third period SCITS regained the lead half way into the period with Aiden Chapdelain scoring and Alec Segers earning the assist.  Just under two minutes later Chapdelain scored his second goal to widen the lead for SCITS.  Kyle Smith earned the assist..  Dresden battled back and came within one after Clint Jones scored with five minutes remaining in the game.

 

Action continued and Dresden pulled their goal for the extra man attacker in the last minute. With :10 seconds remaining SCITS took a penalty that gave Dresden the two man advantage but the Blue Bombers held on to take the win.

 

 

Earning the win in net for SCITS was Riley Eyre.  Special mention to Dresden's netminder Chris Dewulf  who was outstanding making many key saves for the Cardinals.

 

"He (Dewulf) stood on his head, I thought we played very well and controlled a large portion of the game." Jeffery said "He got a lot of shots on net and made the big saves."

 

 

SCITS had zero opportunities for power plays.  Dresden went scoreless on three opportunities.

 

SCITS will now move on to the |SWOSSA final that will be played in Windsor against the winner between Amherstburg and Belle River. Date/time TBD.
