November 16, 2013:  In the second half of the afternoon in this the fifth week of play for our teams we saw the Blue Marlins take on the White Tigers, the Grey Griffons face the Yellow Submarine, The Red Giants face off with the Black Shadows, and the Orange Crush take on the Green Machine.

The first period only saw one goal and it came unassisted off the tape of Matthew Stojcevski. But in the second period The Marlins came alive. Owen Dufor and Chris Latosinski teamed up to tie the game and take the lead with a goal going to each player. Just before the end of the period Stojcevski netted his second and it was all square heading into the final frame. In the final period the lead was tossed around like a bag of Oreos first going to the Marlins when Maitrey Amrutiya put one in the back of the net, but then going to the Tigers when Stojcevski scored his third of the game, followd by team mate Alex Weir giving the White Tigers the lead. With 3 minutes left on the ice, over the boards came Zach Woods though, who tied the game in the nick of time. The score in this one ended up 4-4 after a spirited bout.

Next were the Grey Griffons and Yellow Submarine. The Griffons took the early lead in this one as they got three unanswered tallies. Aiden Healy scored twice and Nolan Jennings got one of his first to put the Griffs up 3-0. In the second period, Adam Walker (Coming off a big morning game) teed up the pass from Caeden Espinola and made it 3-1. Then, Jack Hogan brought the Submariners into striking distance with a goal late in the period. But Jennings was on a roll he scored again (he too coming off a big game in the morning) and re-opened the lead to two goals. The third period saw little action with the lone goal coming from Griffon Tony Vario when he dangled the defender and goaltender alike to make the final in this one 5-2.

In the third game the Red Giants faced off with the Black Shadows. The first period was yet another one goal frame. Matthew Davies pounded home the goal halfway through the frame and it remained 1-0 going into the second period. Once there, Black Shadow Chase Nickels tied the game. Not long after though, the Giants found room for three goals of their own. Minielly, Maness and Heaman each lit the lamp before the end of the period making it 4-1. In the final period of play Nickels scored his second of the game and fourth of the day but that was as close as they would come. Final here was 4-2.

And in the last game of the epic double header schedule we find the Orange Crush and Green Machine. I will cut right to the chase the Green Machine absolutely put the pedal to the metal. Orange Crush forward Ewan Morrison scored two in the first with the help of Leigh Maitland but this one was a runaway for the mighty Green Machine. An offensive explosion of 11 goals are credited to Trent Tomlinson, Costa Colombo(2), Brady Krasinkiewicz(3), Connor Maness, Aiden Matuzic(2) Brent Menhere, and Quinton Bouma. Final here is 11-2 and on that impressive note we end this week in Atom House League hockey!
