The Sarnia Jr. Lady Sting Novice C team recently captured the gold medal at the South Huron Pink on the Rink Hockey Tournament.  The team had a record of 4 wins and 1 tie on the weekend.

 

In pool play, they defeated Ilderton 10-0, BCH 2-1, South Huron 4-1, and tied Petrolia 1-1 to advance to the final as the top seed.

 

The final game versus BCH was a tight well played game.  Ella Jackson scored Sarnia’s only goal with both teams tied at the end of regulation time.  The five minute overtime period failed to determine a winner, so the game went to a three girl shootout.

 

Sarnia goalie Ella Ferrera stopped the first BCH shooter and Robyn Storey responded by scoring for the Lady Sting.  Storey’s goal proved to be the tournament winner as Ferrera shut down the next two BCH shooters to seal the championship for Sarnia.

 

Team members include Haley Denney, Mara Draper, Ella Ferrera, Rhylyn Hicks, Ella Jackson, Tessa Jackson, Neely Jewell, Kiara MacDonald, Felicia Park, Sienna Renton, Maya Smith, Robyn Storey, Vanessa Toenders and Kate Walls. The team is coached by Mark MacDonald, Derek Jackson, Dave Walls, Scott Park, Jamie Draper and Emily King with Jenn Park serving as team manager and trainer. Dressing room moms include Jenn Ferrera and Kim Hicks.
