Sarnia Sting Went 0 - 3 on the Weekend

After losing 6 - 2 on Friday to Sault Ste. Marie on Friday (highlights) the Sting traveled to Peterborough on Saturday and took a 7 - 4 loss against the Petes and on Sunday the team was in Oshawa and lost to the Generals with a final score of 7 - 5.

Saturday against the Petes the Sting had a 2 - 1 lead in the first period however the Petes bounced back and scored three in the second and third periods and the Sting added singles in the final two periods.

 

Scoring their first OHL goals were Matteo Ciccarelli and Legionnaire Jr B player Nathan Mater.  Nick Latta and Nikolay Goldobin rounded out the scoring.

 

 

The Petes outshot the Sting 48 - 27.  Brodie Barrick made 41 saves in the loss.  Andrew D'Agostini earned the win with 23 saves.

 

Sarnia went zero for five on the power play, Peterborough scored once on five opportunities.

 

Missing from the lineup with injuries were Josh Chapman, Patrick White and Alex Renaud and suspended player Hayden Hodgson.

Two Legionnaire Jr. B players were called up to assist were Mater and Ryan Vendramin

 

 

vs Oshawa Generals

Traveling with the same lineup the Sting went to Oshawa on Sunday and took a 5 - 2 loss. 

Both sides were even with 2 goals apiece heading into the third period.  Ryan Vendramin called up for the Legionnaires scored his first OHL goal in the first period and Nick Latta added the second goal with :01 second remaining in the second to tie things up.

 

Third period action saw the Generals go up by two and in the last minute of play the Sting pulled netminder Taylor Dupuis and the Generals scored their final goal into the empty net.

 

The Sting was again outshot with a total of 41 - 14.  Dupuis made 36 saves on 40 shots and Daniel Altshuller earned the win made 12 saves.

 

Sarnia Sting went zero for two on the power play and the Generals went one on six opportunities.


Next weekend the Sting has three games starting on Friday Jan 24 the Sting are in London then on Saturday they travel to Plymouth and return home on Sunday hosting the Windsor Spitfires at 4:05 pm.
