Local Athletes Earned Medals at NAIG in Regina, Sask

17 year old Tanesha Cloud and her 13 year old brother Dylan were members of Team Ontario representing Kettle and Stony Point First Nation at the 2014 North American Indigenous Games (NAIG) held in Regina Saskatchewan from July 20 – 27.

Teams competing at the Games travelled from all Provinces across Canada, Nunavut, Yukon and from the USA that included Washington, New York, Connecticut, California, Florida and Colorado.

 

Both Athletes competed in swimming with Tanesha competing in the Women’s U19 division, Dylan in the U16 division.


Tanesha, a member of the Team Ontario  relay team earned two gold medals in the 50 Medley and 100m Freestyle relay,  silver medals in the 200m Freestyle, 100m Backstroke and 100m Butterfly and a bronze medal in the 50m Butterfly.

 

Dylan competed on the U16 relay team where Ontario took 1st place in the 50 Medley and 100 Freestyle Relay.

 

Tanesha is a former swimmer with the Sarnia Y Rapids and former student and swimmer for Northern Collegiate.  She will be attending Mohawk College in September.

 

Dylan continues to swim for the Sarnia Y Rapids and will be returning to Cathcart Public School in September entering into grade eight.
