Sarnia Saints Women's Weekend Win in Chatham
Tuesday June 3, 2014

The Sarnia Saints Rugby Women’s team moved one step closer to a perfect season with strong forward play throughout the game on Saturday May 31st in an away match against Chatham-Kent Havoc.

Within minutes of play Sarnia’s Sydney Cook made her first try of the season putting the Saints on the board. The Lady Saints didn’t let the lengthy game delay caused by Havoc injury let them lose focus. Seasoned veteran Jacq Fairbairn responded to opponent pressure and was successful. She was credited with her first try in the eight years of her rugby career proudly wearing a Sarnia Saints jersey. Rookie Kassie Roache ran in two tries and successfully kicked three conversions. Scrum half, Lauren Wilks also added to the scoreboard for the Saints. Havoc scored after finally breaking through the Saints backline late in the first half.

Lilly Kindrachuk responded in the second half with a try and conversion and Carley Walls also ran in a try before time ran out. The women defeated Chatham-Kent with a final score of 48-10

The Lady Saints are back in action on home turf at Norm Perry field taking on Stratford, June 7th at noon.
