Legionnaires Blanked Series Tied 3-3
friday march 7, 2014

By Dan McCaffery

The Sarnia Legionnaires face a do-or-die situation tonight (Sunday, March 9) at the Brock Street Barn.

And they will probably have to win with a short bench.

The Legionnaires were blanked 3-0 by the London Nationals in London Saturday in Game Six of the Western Jr. 'B' hockey quarterfinal series.

To make matters worse, Captain Nathan Mater received a game misconduct for abuse of officials, which normally comes with a two-game suspension.

Sarnia is already missing three forwards (Hunter Tyczynski, Jordan Fogarty and Jay Clarke) to injury.

The Legionnaires ran into penalty trouble in the first half of the opening frame Saturday and the Nats scored a pair of powerplay goals (both coming with a two-man advantage).

After that, goalie Jacob Riley shut the door and London added a third goal to skate away with a 3-0 victory.

Sarnia head coach Dan Rose said his club played well during the last 50 minutes of the contest.

Tonight's game begins at 7:10.
