The Sarnia Spirit U16 soccer team defeated London Southend 5-1 in their home opener in the WOYSL L3 Regional League.

It was a complacent start by the home team as they were 1-0 down after the first five minutes of play. Kelly Hodgins tied the score for the Spirit in the first half.

In the second half, Sophie McKelvie scored on a free kick and the Spirit never looked back. Rayne Kellier, Cassie Forte, and Lauren Shaw all added singles.

The Spirit now prepare for an away game versus Guelph on June 8th.
