The Sarnia Lady Sting Midget A Team traveled to Rochester New York to take part in the Fire On Ice Tournament this past weekend. The Lady Sting started the Tournament with an early 7:00 am start vs. the New Jersey Rockets. The Lady Sting fell behind early in the game, but was able to score a late goal to come away with a 1-1 tie. The Lady Sting would play the Markham Stars in the second game of the day. The Lady Sting was determined to come out strong, after losing twice to the stars in a previous tournament. The Lady Sting would score first and often, as they built up a 5-1 lead, before giving up two late goals to win 5-3.

On day two of the Tournament the Lady Sting were matched up against the Princeton Tiger's. The Tiger's opened the scoring on the first shift of the game, putting the Lady Sting in an early hole down 1-0. Once again the Lady Sting would battle back twice in the game, and came away with a 2-2 tie. The Lady Sting completed the round robin undefeated with a 1-0-2 record. The Lady Sting were ranked 6th after the preliminary round and were matched up against #3 Aurora Panthers in the Quarter Finals. With a late 10:20 pm start, the Lady Sting were able to get an early jump on the Panthers and score the first two goals of the game. The Panthers would score midway thru the game with a little help from the Sting's own team (enough said). The game would end with the Sting winning 2-1, and securing a birth in the Semi Finals on Sunday.

In the Semi Final game the Lady Sting was matched up against the home town Rochester Rattlers and their Ref's. The Lady Sting would open the game with 4 straight penalty kills before they were able to open the scoring 1-0. The Lady Sting kept the pressure on the home team Rattlers and came away with a hard fought 4-2 win.

The Championship game quick for the Lady Sting, as they only had an hour to rest before the final vs Mississauga Chiefs. It seemed the Lady Sting were able to keep their momentum going and opened the game with 2 goals in the first period. The Chief's were able to score late on the power play, but the Victory was never in doubt for the Lady Sting on their way to a 2-1 win and a Championship Banner, winning the U17A Division.
