2014 Atom Champions
Sarnia Firefighter's
Association Razor Claws
The Atom championship game
was played on Saturday in
cold conditions with
periodic flurries of ice
pellets enveloping the
field. The Sarnia
Firefighter's Association
Razor Claws prevailed over
the Steeves and Rozema Shock
Wave.
The Razor Claws struck
first, scoring on their
first possession. Riley
Dumond sped to the end zone
on a 17 yard run. The Shock
Wave were then unable to
move the chains and punted
to the Claws. On their
second possession the Razor
Claws marched methodically
down the field, with a drive
that culminated on an 8 yard
run by Parker Wyant.
The Shock Wave responded on
their ensuing possession as
speedy Connor Cini dashed
into the end zone from the
12 yard line. The Razor
Claws then rattled off 24
unanswered points on
touchdown runs by Tyler
Hopwood, Jack Vozza, Dumond
and Wyant.
The Shock Wave played
courageously and battled
hard to the end. Their
efforts were rewarded when
Tyler Kirby ran the ball to
the end zone from the four
yard line.
The Razor Claws defensive
line was tenacious all game,
disrupting plays in the
Shock Wave backfield on
tackles by Hopwood and
Carter Grasse. The final
score was 36-12 for the
Razor Claws.
