Petrolia Squires Win at Home

The Petrolia
Squires were at home last night
in WOAA Senior AA Hockey league
action and defeated the Huron
East Centenaires 6 - 3.
The win added win #7 for the
Squires who are sitting in
second place (7-3-0-1) in the
South Division just 2 points
behind Tavistock (8-2-0-1).
The Squires took a 3 - 0 lead
after the first period with Norm
Leger, Dan Veenama and Kraig
Wright scoring.
In the second at
3:03 the Centenaires scored
their first goal only to have
the Squires answer back on a
power play at the midway point
to take a 4 - 1 lead. Dan
Veenema scored his second of the
night in what turned out to be
the game winner.
The Centenaires continued to
battle back and in the final two
minutes in the period added 2
quick goals the second on a
power play to narrow the gap at
4 - 3 heading into the third.
Two minutes into
the third the Squires regained
the two point lead and 1/2
minute later scored their final.
James Edgar and Norm Leger with
his second of the night scored
the final two goals.
Jacob Pliskow
scored 2 goals for the
Centenaires and Chad Liley added
1.
Matthew
Slotwinski earned the win in net
turning making 22 saves.
Tyler Koots made 46 saves for
Huron East.
The Squires are
back in action tonight (Nov 29)
when they travel to Milverton.
Next Home Game is Fri., Dec 5
against Tillsonburg at 8 pm
Greenwood Recreation Centre.
