Lambton Major Midgets AAA Went 3-1 at Alliance Face Off

The Lambton Jr Sting Major Midgets were in Brantford over the weekend competing at the Alliance Face Off Showcase.  Each game played counted towards the league standings.

 

On Friday the Major Midgets defeated Kitchener 4 - 1.  (no scoring information available)

 

In the second game of the tournament on Saturday morning they lost 3 - 2 to the Cambridge Hawks.  Lambton scored the only goal in the first period, a power play goal by Dillon Saunders assisted by Alec DeKoning.  Then after a scoreless second period Dawson Cook scored Lambton's second goal unassisted just :16 seconds into the third period.  Cambridge fought back and at 3:33 scored their first goal, then went on and scored two power play goals the first at 9:38 then at 15:38 to take the lead and held on for the win.

 

In the third game of the show case their second game on Saturday Lambton defeated the Brantford 99ers 7 - 3.  Lambton went up 6 - 0 after scoring two goals in each period before Brantford scored back to back goals then both sides shared one more goal before games end. 

 

Brock Perry scored three goals in the game that included one power play.  David Norris, Jarret Marks (short handed), Dawson Vautour, and Mathew Stevens added singles.

 

Shane Battler earned the win in net for the Jr. Sting.

 

In the final game Lambton took a solid 6 - 0 shut out win against the Waterloo Wolves.  After a scoreless first period the Jr. Sting scored two in the second that included one power play goal and added four more in the third with the first three on power plays.  Dillon Saunders led the Jr. Sting with two goals, Dawson Cook, David Norris, Dawson Vautour and Ryan Greenaway added singles.

 

Travis Moore earned the win in net for the Jr. Sting.

 

The Major Midgets record now stands at 6 - 1 for the season.  On Thanksgiving weekend the team will compete at the Markham Majors Fall Classic then the weekend following and they are back in league action for a home/home series against Cambridge.  The first game is on Friday October 17 in Cambridge then back at home at the RBC Centre on Sunday with a 3:30 pm puck drop.
