Petrolia Squires Win Season/Home Opener

The Petrolia Squires opened
their season with a 6 - 2
home opener win against
Milverton on Friday night.
The Squires
dominated in the first period
scoring three goals and started
the scored their fourth in the
opening minute on a power play,
then finished the game with two
goals in the third that included
a shorthanded goal.
Milverton goals
came in the second period with
the first on a power play.
Norm Leger scored
two goals for the Squires with
singles by Dan Veenema, Nathan
Ansell, Chris Edwards and James
Edgar.
Edgar, Ansell and Veenama each
tallied two points in the game
adding assists. Jeff
Paulley assisted on two goals
and Rory Keane, Breydan Belan,
Kraig Wright, Jeremiah Goodacre
and Chris Wilson earned single
points.
Scoring for
Milverton were Kent Merrian and
Brent Freeman.
Brandon Campbell
earned the win in net for the
Squires making 40 saves.
Kyle Broadhagen took the loss
made 38 saves.
The Squires are back in action
tonight when they travel to
Seaforth. Next home game
is set for Friday October 17
with Clinton coming to the
Greenwood Rec Centre in
Petrolia. Game time 8:00
pm.
