The Lambton Sting
Minor Bantam’s shut
out Brantford 5-0 in
their only game of
the weekend.
After a scoreless
first period and
most of the second
the Sting exploded
with 3 goals in a
span of just under 4
minutes late in the
second stanza. The
team played a strong
defensive game in
front of goaltender
Liam McCarthy, who
stopped all 25 shots
he faced for his
second shutout of
the season.
Brandon Neelin
opened the scoring
with a shot from the
point following a
nice feed from Bryce
Twohey. Hunter
Monkhouse made it
2-0 with Elijah
Duquette and Wes
Griffiths drawing
the assists. 33
seconds later Twohey
scored to increase
the lead to 3-0 as
Griffiths earned his
second helper of the
game.
The Sting would get
2 more goals in the
third period. First
it was Nick Steeves
who lit the lamp
with assists going
to Duquette and
Jacob Rochford.
Rochford rounded out
the scoring with a
goal assisted by
Twohey.
The Sting have 2
games next weekend
as they host
Cambridge on
Saturday at 3pm at
the RBC before
travelling to Komoka
on Sunday to face
the Elgin Middlesex
Chiefs.
