The Sarnia Y Rapids 1
Swim Team participated in the
first swim meet of the St. Clair
Erie Aquatic League (SEAL)
season in Aylmer on October 19.
Thirty-two swimmers from the
team competed, including two who
finished first in at least one
event in their age groups.
Ciara Brown, 12, earned three
individual first place finishes
and one third while Trevor Kozak,
6, came 1st in the
25m butterfly. He added 3rd,
4th and 5th
place finishes.
Trevor’s brothers also
participated, and earned Top 3
results. Travis, 8, finished 2nd
in the 25m breaststroke and 3rd
in the 25m backstroke. Zakk, 10,
placed 3rd in the 50m
breaststroke. Also finishing in
the Top 3 were Lauren Armstrong,
7, with a 2nd place
in the 25m breaststroke; Jack
Biggar, 12, in the 100m
breaststroke (2nd),
50m butterfly and 100m freestyle
(both 3rd); Shona
Branton, 12, who came 2nd
on the 100m backstroke and 100 m
freestyle, and 3rd in
the 50m butterfly; Carter Brush,
9, for the 25m butterfly (2nd);
Dylan Cloud, 13, with 3rd
place finishes in the 100m
breaststroke and freestyle;
Gregory Dietrich, 12, who took
almost 15 seconds off a personal
best time (PBT) while finishing
3rd in the 100m
breaststroke; Trevor Marut, 7,
with 2nd place
finishes in the 25m backstroke
and breaststroke and 3rd
in the 25m freestyle; and Allie
Rawson, 9, for her 3rd
place in the 50m freestyle.
Kate Bedard, 7,
improved all of her individual
PBTs while earning three 5th
place and a 6th place
ribbon. Twelve-year-old Diane
Clarke finished 4th
in the 50m butterfly and 100m
backstroke and breaststroke, and
5th in the 100m
freestyle. Olivia Conroy, 11,
improved her PBTs in each of her
events. Cameron Dew, 12, swam in
two events and finished in the
Top 10. Ten-year-old Devan Dyck
cracked the Top 10 in two of his
events, while his sister,
Vanessa, 9, improved her PBTs in
the 25m butterfly and 50m
freestyle. Rylynn Haney, 13,
shaved more than 13 seconds off
her previous PBT in the 100m
freestyle. Eight-year-old Isaac
Jones earned a ribbon in the 25m
breaststroke, coming 5th,
and finished in the Top 10 in
the 50m freestyle. Taylor Marut,
10, ribboned in all her events,
finishing 5th in the
50m butterfly and 100m
freestyle, and 6th in
the 50m backstroke, while
teammate Warren Millward, 11,
earned all Top 10 finishes,
including a 6th place
in the 50m butterfly.
Ten-year-old Nik Mukherjee
improved his PBTs in two of his
individual events while earning
Top 10 finishes in three. Fellow
10-year-old Tyler Murphy swam to
two Top 10 finishes, while
Jagger Norton, 9, cracked the
Top 10 in each of his events.
Kaiden Rawson, 12, came 4th
in the 50m butterfly and 100m
breaststroke and freestyle, and
5th in the 100m
backstroke. Nine-year-old
Annabelle Rayson improved her
PBTs in each of her events in
Aylmer, while Isabella Wright,
8, finished in the Top 10 in
each of hers.
Also swimming were
Josie Gilpin, 7, Ava Norton, 8,
and Ella Savage and Grace
Vandevenne, both 10.

swimmers are coached by Sue
Athanasopoulos. This group’s
next meet is in Leamington on
November 8.
