Sarnia, ON – The 2014 World
Under-17 Hockey Challenge
Host committee announced on
Tuesday that ticket packages
are on sale for the WU17
that will take place in
Sarnia-Lambton from October
31 to Nov 8th,
2014.
The tournament will be the
first to feature three
Canadian national teams. It
is also predicted that
Sarnia Sting’s first round
draft choice, Jakob Chychrun
will once again be selected
for one of the 3 Canadian
Teams playing in World’s
Under 17 Hockey Challenge.
In less than 8 weeks, the
three Canadian teams will be
joined by Finland, Russia,
Slovakia, Sweden and the
United States, with two
groups of four teams. All
eight teams will qualify for
the quarter-finals, with the
winners advancing to the
semifinals, and losers
facing off in placement
games.
The 24-game tournament will
be centered out of the RBC
Centre, home of the OHL’s
Sarnia Sting, but will also
feature games at The Shores
Recreation Centre in Forest,
Ont. Those two communities,
along with Petrolia, Ont.,
and Watford, Ont., will host
pre-tournament games on Oct.
31.
This year marks Hockey
Canada’s and Sarnia’s 100th
Anniversary and to
commemorate the 100th
Anniversary, all 3 Canadian
teams will be wearing the
Hockey Canada 100th
Anniversary Jersey’s. 2014
will mark only the 7th time
that that the World Under 17
Hockey Challenge has been
held in Ontario, over it’s
29-year history.
The World Under-17 Hockey
Challenge will also give
Sarnia-Lambton's
knowledgeable hockey fans a
first look at true
international hockey, while
supporting local minor
hockey initiatives.

Four exhibition games will
take place at the RBC Centre
in Sarnia, The Shores
Recreation Complex in
Forest, Greenwood Arena in
Petrolia and at Watford in
Warwick on October 31 to
kick off the series. Round
Robin, Quarter finals and
Semi Final games will be
played at 3:00 and 7:00 p.m.
at both the RBC Centre and
the Shores Recreation
Complex. The Bronze and
Gold Medal Game will take
place at the RBC Centre on
Nov 8, 2014.
Ticket packages are still
available for a limited time
for the 11 games at the RBC
Centre (which includes the
Gold and Bronze games) for
only $149.00. Ticket
packages for all 11 games at
the Shores Recreation
Complex are available for
only $129.00 with the option
of adding the Medal Games at
an addition $42.00. This is
a savings of 30%
