A day after
Glanworth pitcher
Jake McKillop
pitched a gem and
totally silenced the
Alvinston Indians
offence, en route to
a 2-0 shutout win,
and series
equalizing game; the
Glanworth Gators
travelled back to
Alvinston for game 3
in the series. The
fans were in for a
beautiful night of
ball and a great
game, as both teams
aces were keeping
opposing offences
quiet. The home
team Alvinston
Indians started ace
Kyle Crawford, while
Glanworth countered
with game 2 winner
Jake McKillop, who
is their ace.
Crawford and
McKilllop both shut
the door all night.
The game was
scoreless through
six complete
innings. Crawford
got out of a jam in
the top of the fifth
inning, leaving
runners on second
and third, while
Alvinston threatened
in the sixth inning,
leaving runners on
first and third, but
couldn't cash off of
McKillop.
In the top of the
seventh inning,
Crawford set down
the Gators in order,
with two more
strikeouts and a
total of 16 on the
evening, to go with
two walks and hits
allowed in the
game. In the bottom
of the seventh,
Crawford reached
base on a single,
and Devin Triest
sacrificed him to
second on a perfect
bunt, and Triest was
safe at first due to
a Glanworth throwing
error. With one out
in the inning,
Glanworth elected to
walk leadoff hitter
Joe Triest to load
the bases. Next up
was young Bryan
Johnson, and he did
not disappoint, with
a two strike hit up
the middle to score
Crawford for the
game's lone run, and
a 1-0 Alvinston lead
and walk-off win.
It was a fantastic
ball game that the
fans surely
enjoyed. McKillop
was the hard luck
losing pitcher,
allowing 3 hits, 3
walks, and two
intentional passes,
while fanning 14
Alvinston swingers.
Crawford got the
shutout win for
Alvinston, by
helping them to a
2-1 series lead with
both his arm and his
bat. Game 4 goes
Wednesday in
Glanworth at 8:00pm
