When the Sarnia Legionnaires take to the ice
Thursday against the London
Nationals, they'll have a new
face in the lineup.
Head coach Dan Rose said Monday the Jr. 'B'
hockey club has signed Sarnia
Sting fourth round draft pick
Jake O'Donnell.
O'Donnell, a 16-year-old from Bowmanville, stands
6'1 and weighs175 pounds. In 39
regular season and tournament
games last season, he scored
seven goals and 12 assists for
the Clarington Toros Minor
Midget 'AAA' team. More than
that, he helped the Toros win
the OHL Gold Cup championship.
He was invited last June to take part in Hockey
Canada's Under-17 Development
Camp at Calgary.
"He's a big, strong defenceman, one of the more
skilled 16-year-old defencemen
in the province,” Rose said. He
added, “Jake's here to develop
and, hopefully, make the jump up
to the Sting, either this year
or next.”
