Championship Tournament
The
Ontario Youth Singles
Championship Tournament was held
on March 21-22 at Bowlerama
Royal, London, with 240 young
bowlers participating from
across the province. Forty-one
Lambton County Youth bowlers
from Hi-Way Bowl and Marcin Bowl
participated in the tournament
with seven bowlers earning
twenty-four percent ($1350.00)
of the available $5750.00
scholarship money to further
their education.
Connor
Smith, Morgan Pelkie and Dalton
Crowe won their respective
divisions while honourable
mention goes to Hollie-Ann Jean,
Jacob Bestard, Shayla Crouse and
Devon Crowe for their great
efforts on the lanes.
Connor
Smith, from Hi-Way Bowl, winner
of the 12 + Years Boys Scratch
Division, had a phenomenal day
as he tossed games of 264,
244, 183, 225 and 235 for a
scratch total of 1151 averaging
230 for his five games.
Morgan
Pelkie, from Marcin Bowl, winner
of the 12 + Years Girls Scratch
Division, had a super day as she
tossed games of 165, 241, 185,
258 and 203 for a scratch total
of 1052 averaging 210 for her
five games.
Dalton
Crowe, from Hi-Way Bowl, winner
of the 12 + Years Boys Handicap
Division, was 223 pins over
average for his five games
rolling games of 157, 184, 210,
169 and 213 for a scratch total
of 933 and a 1223 handicap
total.
Hollie-Ann
Jean, from Marcin Bowl, placed 2nd
in the 12 + Years Girls Handicap
Division rolling 205 pins over
average for five games ending
the day with an 821 scratch
total and a handicap total of
1206.
Jacob
Bestard, from Marcin Bowl,
placed 3rd in 12 +
Years Boys Handicap Division
wheeling 191 pins over average
for five games ending the day
with an 891 scratch total and a
handicap total of 1191.
Shayla
Crouse, from Hi-Way Bowl, placed
4th in the 12 + Years
Girls Handicap Division
recording 170 pins over average
for five games ending the day
with an 840 scratch total and a
handicap total of 1170.
Devon
Crowe, from Hi-Way Bowl, paced 7th
in the 12 + Years Boys Handicap
Division bowling 169 pins over
average for five games ending
the day with an 959 scratch
total and a handicap total of
1169.
The other
thirty-four Lambton County
Junior bowlers who participated
in the tournament, also
performed well with some
outstanding scores, just not
quite high enough to gain
scholarship money. They will
have another chance in the
upcoming Ontario Youth
Provincial Tournament which
takes place in May at Parkway
Lanes in St. Catharines. This
tournament offers scholarship
monies in Team, Singles, Doubles
and All Events competition.
Sarnia
should be PROUD. These young
people are our up and coming
adult bowlers.
