Armstrong Sweeps at Aylmer Swim Meet

Swim Team finished 1st
in each of her individual events
in the 7-and-under age group at
the St. Clair Erie Aquatic
League (SEAL) swim meet in
Aylmer on April 12. At the same
time, she improved her personal
best times (PBTs) in all of her
swims. Her teammate, Shona
Branton, 12, won her 100m
breaststroke and 100m Individual
Medley (IM) events (while also
improving her PBTs), and the
three Kozak brothers – Trevor,
7, Travis, 9, and Zakk, 11 –
each came first in one event,
with strong finishes (almost all
PBTs) in their other swims. In
total, 26 swimmers from the
Sarnia team participated.
Several teammates
finished in the Top 3 in at
least one individual event.
Braedan Babenko, 9, placed 2nd
in the 25m backstroke and 25m
breaststroke and had four PBTs.
Kate Bedard, 7, finished 2nd
in the 25m butterfly,
breaststroke and freestyle and
three PBTs. Ciara Brown and
Gregory Dietrich, both 13, each
came 2nd in their
100m breaststroke and 3rd
in the 100m backstroke and 100m
freestyle events and recorded
PBTs. Rylynn Haney, 14, finished
3rd in the 50m
butterfly and 100m backstroke.
Isaac Jones, 9, placed 2nd
in his 25m breaststroke and 3rd
in the 25m butterfly with PBTs.
Taylor Marut, 10, came 3rd
in the 50m butterfly and 100m
freestyle, while her brother,
Trevor, 7, finished 2nd
in the 100m IM and 3rd
in the 50m freestyle. Warren
Millward, 11, placed 2nd
in his 50m backstroke event and
recorded PBTs.
Others earning
ribbons for up to 6th
place were: Diane Clarke, 13, in
the 100m breaststroke; Samuel
Dietrich, 11, for the 50m
backstroke and breaststroke
events; Devan Dyck, 10, in the
100m IM and 50m butterfly and
backstroke; Nik Mukherjee, 11,
for the 100m IM – taking almost
45 seconds off his previous PBT
– and 50m butterfly and
backstroke; Tyler Murphy, 11, in
the 100m freestyle (bettering
his previous PBT by 18 seconds)
and 50m breaststroke; and Nadine
Osmon, 13, for the 50m butterfly
and 100m backstroke.
Ayrianna Batson,
11, and Annabelle Rayson, 9,
each had three Top 10 finishes
(while improving their PBTs in
each of their individual swims),
while McKenna Brown, also 11,
had one of her own. Vanessa Dyck,
9, improved three PBTs – by as
much as 27 seconds. Isabella
Wright, 9, had four Top 10
finishes and improved all of her
PBTs. Arianah Driese, 11 also
participated.
