The Mooretown Flags dropped a 5 - 2 decision last night in Essex in Great Lakes Jr. C Hockey league action.

After the first period Essex led 3 - 2 but pulled away adding singles in the second and third.

Joe Desena from Ben Morrison and Ryan Lyle scored the first Flags goal and Jakob Reeves added the second in the final minute of the period unassisted.

Scoring for Essex were Tyler Turner, Brett Vorshuk, Michael Vieira, Cody Schneider and Luke Gecse.

Essex outshot the Flags 53 - 23.  Nolan Hakr and Brandon Johnson shared the goaltending duties.  Hakr made 16 saves, Johnson 32.

Things got ugly in the third when players from both sides got tossed for fighting and the Flags bench took a 2 minute minor.

Mooretown went scoreless on one power play opportunity, Essex went zero for three.

The Flags are now 15-11-2-0 and remain in 4th spot.  The team returns to action tonight (Wed Dec 16) when they travel to Wallaceburg.  Game time 7:30.
