Sarnia Spirit U17 Win Silver at Scrooge Indoor Soccer Tournament

The Sarnia Spirit U17 team played in the U18 Division of the Scrooge Soccer Tournament played at the BMO Centre in London.

In the preliminary rounds, the Spirit defeated Middlesex Utd 4-1. Goals by Chloe Kennedy, Daphne Hibma, Kelly Hodgins, and Cassie Forte.

In the second game the Spirit defeated the Oakridge Hurricanes 1-0 as Daphne Hibma scored the winner and a shutout by Cassidy Edlington.

The Spirit then defeated the Southend Wildcats 3-1 as Chloe Kennedy, Katie Barwitski, and Krysty Hodgins scored for the Spirit.

The Spirit then defeated the Byron Blast 4-0 with two goals from Kelly Hodgins and singles from Reagan Hayter and Daphne Hibma. Cassidy Edlington with the shutout.

In the final preliminary game the Spirit defeated the Woodstock Rage 4-0. Kelly Hodgins with three goals and a single by Reagan Hayter. Cassidy Edlington earned her third shutout.

In the semi final, the Spirit tied the London Gryphons 1-1 on a goal by Reagan Hayter. The Spirit won in the shootout 4-3 as Chloe Kennedy, Daphne Hibma, Katie Barwitski and Cassie Forte scored.

In the final, the Spirit lost to the Byron Blaze in the last minute 1-0.

Next action for the Spirit is on Sunday, January 11th when they play against the South End Red Devils and South West London in the U18 League Division at the BMO Centre.
