The Sarnia Jr. Lady Sting Bantam C hockey team
won the 2015 Woodstock Wildcats Hockey Tournament this past weekend (Jan. 2-4).
They finished with a 4-1-1 record.
In Pool Play, they tied BAD Blazers (Belmont/Aylmer/Dorchester) 1-1. Meghan
Harvie scored the Sarnia goal.
The next game was a 1-0 loss to Southpoint Stars.
Game three was a 2-1 win over the Saugeen Shores Storm. Scoring for Sarnia was
Chloe Busby and Madilyn Fairbairn.
In the quarterfinal game, it was a rematch vs Saugeen Shores. After a rough,
physical game, Sarnia emerged with a well-deserved 1-0 win with Macey Leppington
scoring for Sarnia.
In the semi-final game, Sarnia was matched up against the Kent County Fillies.
After another intense, emotional game, Sarnia emerged victorious with a 3-1 win
with Meghan Harvie, Emily Chute and Angelique Aliperti scoring for Sarnia.
This setup a rematch in the Championship Game of Sarnia vs BAD.
This was a very fast, back and forth game with several glorious offensive
chances for both teams.
In dramatic fashion with 4 seconds remaining in the game and Sudden Death
Overtime looming, the birthday girl, Angelique Aliperti scored with a beautiful
backhander off the post and in to seal the dramatic win!
