Local Lacrosse Players Season Ends in Toronto

The Toronto Beaches Jr. A
lacrosse team, led by Pacers
Alumni rookie Brayden Bell &
sophomore Cory Burr has ended.
The Beaches, reached the post
season for the first time since
2006, earning a 6th place seed
following a 9-10-1 regular
season record matching up with
3rd place Brampton Excelsiors
(13-7) led by another Zone 7
product former Wallaceburg/
London minor lacrosse player
Zach Herreweyers.
Brampton swept the best of 7
series 4-0. Defeating Beaches in
game 1 in Toronto by the score
of 9-7, followed by a pair of
games in Brampton 10-5 & 13-6,
finishing off series in Toronto
winning 15-9.
Pacers products Cory Burr
delivered 3 goals, 2 assists in
series while Rookie goalie
Brayden Bell saw 43 minutes in
games 3 & 4 allowing 9 goals,
adding 2 assists. Wallaceburg/
London minor player Zach
Herreweyers had 8 goals, 3
assists in 3 games.
The season, the 24th in Beaches
Jr. A history, was incredible
making positive strides in all
areas of the game. Making the
future rather bright with the
amount of rookies, sophomores &
juniors for the future.
The Ontario Lacrosse Association
also announced the 2015 league
awards. Naming 5th year Toronto
Beaches Assistant captain #10
Anthony Joaquin 2nd Team
all-star.
Toronto Beaches coaching staff
led by Head Coach Glenn Clark,
assistants Clem D'Orazio &
Garrett Kikot were named 2015
Coaching Staff of the year.
Coach Glenn Clark was also
recently named new Head Coach of
the National Lacrosse League's
New England Black Wolves. Sarnia
products Jimmy Purves, and
Sarnia/ Wallaceburg product Tye
Belanger served on the 2015 NLL
team.
The Toronto Beaches Jr. A team
look to continue with the
development program, running
some off season winter workouts,
while many of the players will
look to continue with pro
League's CLAX and NLL over
winter months.
Goalie Brayden Bell has been
contacted by and is in talks
with Team Germany to compete in
the upcoming U19 World Indoor
championships Sept. 11-13 in Six
Nations. Competing against
Canada, USA, First Nations,
Israel and Czech Republic. Which
may result in competing in the
World Indoor Championships in
Syracuse, NY Sept 17-28 against
13 nations.
