Western Counties Wolverines U15 Baseball Recent Highlights

Western Counties has gone 2-3 over the last 2 weekends.

On Sunday July 19th the Wolverines travelled to Tecumseh Rangers for a double header and came away with another split. In Game one the Wolverines lost 3-2. Greg Hay was the starting pitcher and threw three scoreless innings giving up 1 hit, 1 walk and striking out 3. Drew Pepper then came in and continued with two scoreless innings giving up 1 hit, 1 walk while striking out 4. Jake Taylor came in for the save but the Rangers had other plans and came back for the victory handing Taylor the loss in his 1 1/3 innings of work. Grant Spence had a double for the offence while singles went to Joel Pavey, Evan Rogers and Kyle Blunt.

In Game 2 action the Wolverines scored 3 runs in the top of the first and held on for the 3-1 win. Grant Spence picked up the victory going 3 innings giving up 1 hit, 1 walk and striking out 3. Kyle Blunt and Evan Rogers each helped pick up the save over the next 4 innings of work. Drew Pepper, Greg Hay, Brett Allardyce and rogers each had a hit for the Wolverine offence.

On Saturday July 25th the Wolverines hosted the London Badgers for a double header and the Badgers took both games by a score of 4-3 and 8-3.

In game one Brett Allardyce took the loss giving up 3 hits, 3 walks, 4 runs and picked up 1 strike out over his 3 innings of work. Drew Pepper and Joel Pavey each pitched 2 scoreless innings closing out the game. Allardyce and Pavey each had 2 hits to lead the Wolverine offence, Greg Hay had a double while singles went to Grant Spence, Xavier Jamieson and Pepper.

Grant Spence took the loss in game two lasting just 1 2/3 innings. Greg Hay pitched 5 innings and Evan Rogers came in to get the last out. The game was close until the top of the seventh when the Badgers erupted for 4 runs to hand the wolverines an 8-3 loss. Brett Allardyce picked up 2 hits for the Wolverines and Rogers had a double.

On Sunday the Wolverines got back on the winning track picking up a 12-0 victory over the Corunna Giants. Jake Taylor, Kyle Blunt and Dillon Timperly tallied 11 strikeouts and walked 5 over the 7 innings of play. Evan Rogers had the hot bat going 3 for 3 while Drew Pepper and Greg Hay each picked up 2 hits and Jacob Breault had a double.

The Wolverines are now 15-12-1 on the season.
