The Sarnia Lady Jr Sting
Novice C girls hockey
team went 4-1 this past
weekend to win the
Walter Gretzky Girls
Hockey tournament in
Brantford.
The Lady Sting opened
the tournament against
Mooretown with a 5-0
win. Saturday showed the
team their only loss
which would come against
Woodstock who they would
meet in the final.
Sarnia then went on to
beat Stratford to move
onto the semis when they
would meet Mooretown
again. It took overtime
for Sarnia to win and
move onto the final
against Woodstock.
The game was tied at
zeros going into the
third but with 2:02 left
in the final period,
Sara McCahill choose a
brilliant time to score
her first career goal to
win the tournament.
Allowing only 4 goals
all tournament and
posting 3 shut outs were
Goalies Krysten Campbell
and Ella Ferrera.
Game MVPs went to Mara
Draper, Neely Jewell,
Tahlia Kelch, Gracie
Harse and Sara McCahill.
The team is coached by
Paul Ferrera, Jamie
Draper and Ron Hicks
with Carly Stamm as
Trainer.
