League semi-final playoffs
series against the
Hamilton Huskies after
losing 3 - 2 in Hamilton on
Saturday and 4 - 3 in
overtime on Sunday at the
RBC Centre in Sarnia.
Hamilton scored the only
goal in the last minute of
play in the first period by
Issac Nurse. At 10:22
in the second on the power
play Max Steeves evened the
game with Noah Campbell and
Cade Robbins assisting.
Another goal in the last
minute of play in the period
by Keaton Kewley gave
Hamilton the 2 - 1 lead
heading into the third.
With :54 seconds off the
clock Hamilton widened their
lead on an unassisted goal
by Maliek Powell. Jr.
Sting battled back and at
13:46 the Jr. Sting scored
the final goal of the game
on the power play goal to
narrow the gap but Hamilton
held on and took the win.
Fraser Wilson scored
assisted by Noah Campbell.
Netminder Kyle Brinacombe
made 24 saves in the loss,
Thomas Cavarzan earned the
win for Hamilton turning
away 22.
Sunday's game found the
Lambton Jr. Sting leading 2
- 1 after the first period.
Matt Hunt and Fraser Wilson
scored for the Jr. Sting and
Issac Nurse added the single
goal on a power play.
In the second period
Hamilton tied the game
at 10:43 and as the period
was coming to an end Josh
Barraclough scored tor
regain the lead heading into
the third.
Third period Hamilton's
Isaac Nurse scored his
second of the game to knot
the game at 3 - 3 and
regulation time ended
sending the game into a five
minute overtime. Both
sides went back and forth
and with :51 seconds
remaining in OT
Hamilton's Maliek Powell
scored the game winner.
Chaska Thiel suffered the OT
loss turning away 19 shots,
Justin Vertesi made 23 saves
for Hamilton.
The two teams are back in
action on Saturday March 7
for game three of the best
of five series.
