Dara Sinclair Qualifies for Team Canada
May 30, 2015
Lambton County Tenpin Association bowler Dara
Sinclair had an exciting May 2-4 weekend as she qualified to
participate on the women’s team representing Canada in the World
Seniors Championships at Las Vegas in August of this year.
The Canadian Team Trials qualifying tournament took place at Bob
Brace’s Leisure Lanes in Oshawa with 114 men and 50 women from
across the country trying to win the available spots on each of the
men’s, women’s and Junior teams. The bowlers competed on three
different challenging oil patterns, short, medium and long, tossing
18 games over the weekend to determine the team Canada members.
Sinclair finished 4th to nail down the last spot.
Jill Friis and Fred Philips (both of London and formerly of Sarnia)
also qualified and will be joined by the other five successful
senior Canadian bowlers representing Canada in the singles, doubles
and team play.
Sarnia’s Rachel McGrath also entered the tournament in the Junior
division but failed to qualify for the Junior team.
In previous years, other Sarnians representing Canada were Melissa
Legault (Junior 5 times and women once), Karyne Legault and Brad
Geerts (Junior) and Neil Sinclair (Senior).
