The Royal Canadian Legion
Branch 62 Iron Hides came up
with another superb effort,
defeating the Metcalfe
Photography Shock Wave 30-0.
Jack Vozza led the Hides with 2
touchdowns. Individual scores
were credited to Josh Manning,
Parker Wyant and Brody Nesbitt.
The Robinson Design and Drafting
Razor Claws continued their
improved play, prevailing over
the Sylvan Learning Centre Fire
Bolts 24-18. The Claws jumped
out to an 18-6 lead at the half
on touchdown runs by Mason
Broer, Travis Kozak and Chayton
VanBarneveld. Cohen Krull
replied for the Fire Bolts. The
Fire Bolts came out revved up in
the second half and a 13 yard
run by Zavier Mitchell narrowed
the lead to 6. The teams traded
touchdowns the remainder of the
way with Reese Baumgartner
scoring for the Razor Claws and
Caneron Rand for the Fire Bolts.
In the first PeeWee game the
BrownStones Sky Fire defeated
the Vidal Pharmacy Raiders 25-0.
Josh Foulis opened the scoring
on a 19 yard pass from Josh
Hillsdon. Foulis then converted
his own major. On the Sky Fire's
next possession, Orion Vasquez
scampered to the end zone,
staking the Sky Fire to a 13-0
halftime lead. Second half
majors were counted by Ethan
Hacker and Vasquez to complete
the scoring.
The Sarnia Lakeshore Optimists
prevailed over the Lanxess
Avengers in the other PeeWee
contest. Tyler Hopwood put the
Vortex on the board first with a
15 yard dash. Brody Hornett's
run and Hopwood's convert
increased the lead to 14-0. The
Avengers narrowed the gap to 8
on an 82 yard run by the speedy
Joey Edlington. With time
winding down, Hornett stuck
again, from the 1 yard line, to
secure the victory.
In the first Bantam game the
Mechanical Contractor's
Association Toros sought to
avenge a 45-32 defeat the last
time these teams met. Joe Rose
opened the scoring for the Toros
on their first possession. Brody
Phillips kicked the convert.
the next time they had the ball,
Ethan Kerby scampered to the
corner from 1 yard out to
increase the Toro lead to 14
points. Before halftime Kerby
struck again, this time from 31
yards out to stake the Toros to
a 20-0 lead at the half. The
second half was a defensive
struggle with the only major
being counted by Kerby once more
for a 26-0 Toro victory.
In the last game of the day the
first place Jim Easson/Brian
Guenette Grizzlies encountered a
fired up Bigras Painting Tiger
Shark team who came into this
game with a record of one win
and 6 losses. This game was all
Tiger Sharks as their offense
moved up and down the field
behind the powerful 3 pronged
running attack of Will McArthur,
Dylan Hilz and Austin West. The
Sharks led 14-0 after one
quarter and 28-0 at the half.
Two more majors were added in
the second half for a 41-0
victory. Dylan Hiltz led the
charge with 3 touchdowns, Austin
West counted 2 and Will McArthur
the single. MacArthur ran the
ball across the goal line for 2
converts, West also had 2
conversions and Hiltz
contributed a single in a game
between 2 teams that could be
meeting in the semis on Oct. 31.
Brady Gladwish had an
outstanding game for the
Grizzlies, making many
individual open field tackles.
