SARNIA, ON – Following a
request from USA Hockey, the
Sarnia Sting Hockey Club has
granted rookie forward,
Sasha Chmelevski permission
to join Team USA for the
2015 World Under-17 Hockey
Challenge. The Tournament is
being held in Dawson Creek/
Fort St. John, British
Columbia from November 1 –
7, 2015.
Selected 10th
overall in the off-season,
Chmelevski has had a strong
start to his Ontario Hockey
League career. The centreman
is currently tied for 3rd
in rookie scoring after
registering 5 goals through
his first 12 games played.
In terms of representing his
country, this is not a first
for the 16 year-old. This
past summer, Chmelevski
captained the USA Under-17
team to a gold medal finish
at the Five Nations cup in
Arosa, Switzerland. In four
games played, Chmelevski
notched 4 goals and 6
assists for a total of 10
points.
General Manager, Nick
Sinclair comments on today’s
news, “We’d like to wish
Sasha the best of luck with
Team USA next week. The U17
tournament is a great
opportunity for him to
showcase his talents on an
international platform, and
represent his country once
again.”
