Atom Quarter Final
Throughout the entire year,
most games in the Atom
Division were very close and
competitive. This was again
the case in the Atom Quarter
Final where the game was won
in shoot out with the
Metcalfe Photography Shock
Wave taking the win 30 - 24
over the Sarnia Lakeshore
Optimists Inferno to advance
to the semis.
In the first half, the teams
traded scores with Devondary
Rose and Carter Pagano
counting majors for the
Shock Wave. Nathan Tremblay
and Liam O'Rourke replied
for the Inferno as the teams
were tied 12-12 at the half.
Pagano put the Shock Wave up
18-12 in the second half on
a 9 yard run. Bryce Morgan
tied it from the 2 yard line
the next time the Inferno
had the ball. With only 3
minutes remaining, Rose put
the Shock Wave up again as
he scampered into the end
zone.
The Inferno did not give up
and methodically marched the
ball downfield in the waning
moments. There was less than
a minute to play when Nathan
Tremblay tied it for the
Inferno on a nifty 14 yard
dash, eluding 4 would be
tacklers. This sent the game
to a shoot out, in which
each team would have one
possession from the 20 yard
line.
If the teams remained tied,
this would continue until a
winner was declared. The
Shock Wave had the ball
first and on the fourth
play, the elusive Pagano
scored the go ahead major
from the 3 yard line. On the
Inferno's possession, the
Shock Wave defense came up
big and thwarted the Inferno
drive, booking a ticket for
them to the semis on
Saturday.
