The Sarnia Legionnaires defeated Chatham 6 - 5 in
overtime in their final game in the exhibition series Wednesday night in
Chatham.
Chatham took a 2 - 0 lead after the first period
and led 4 - 3 after two. Sarnia came back in the third scoring two quick
goals at 3:28 and 3:51 taking the lead but the Maroons scored midway and the two
sides remained even sending the game into overtime. At 1:53 into the extra
period Captain Hunter Tyczynski scored the winning goal assisted by Ryan
Trottier.
Leading up to the game winner Ryan
Vandramin scored two and singles by Jarret Marks, Ethan Dupont and Sam
McCormack. Austin Thompson led Chatham with a pair of goals with Luc
Knight, Blair Derynck and Mark Fratarcangelli adding singles.
Sarnia completed the pre-season series with a
record of 4 - 2. The Legionnaires are in London for their season opener at
the showcase event. Game 1 is set for Saturday Sept 12 at 10:30 am vs
Ancaster Avalanch and Game 2 will be played on Sunday Sept 13 vs Brampton
Bombers at 1:30 pm. Both games are played at Western Fair.
Sarnia's home opener is on Thursday September 17
vs Lambton Shores Predators at 7:10 pm at the Sarnia Arena.
