Mooretown Flags went 1 - 1 on Weekend

The Mooreotwn Flags went 1 and 1 at home over the weekend in Great Lakes Jr. C Hockey Hockey League action. 

On Friday the Flags hosted the Essex 73's in their second home/home series and went 0 - 2 in the series after taking a 7 - 4 loss.

Essex went up 4 - 0 in the first with Matthew Rosati, Dallas Pereira, Tyler Turner and Luke Gecse scoring.  Mooretown came back and narrow the gap by 2 after Daytona Harrison and Kyle Smith scored for the Flags.  Essex added one more before the period was over to take a 5 - 2 lead after two periods.

Like the second Mooretown came back and scored two goals. Joe DeSena and Trevor Bogaert's shorthanded goal narrowed the gap to one.  With Mooretown still short killing off the penalty Adam Galarin scored on the power play to widened the 73's lead by two then went on and sealed the deal with an empty netter.

Nolan Hakr in his first game in net for the Flags faced 41 shots, with 34 saves.  Essex's Tyler O'Hanley made 28 saves on 32 shots.

Mooretown went zero for five on the power play, Essex scored one on four.

On Saturday the Flags were back on the ice and sent Alvinston home after shutting them out 4 - 0. 

Joe DeSena scored the only goal on a power play in the first period.  Second period the score remained the same and in the third DeSena added his second of the night at 15:03 then :31 seconds later Kyle Smith scored and less than a minute later former Lambton AAA Minor Midget Cameron Rannie scored his first of the season.

Brandon Johnson earned his first shutout of the season after facing 52 shots.  Cam MacAlpine suffered the loss making 26 saves.

Mooretown went one for two on power plays, Alvinston was scoreless on three opportunities.

The Flags are now 2 - 2 for the season and return to action on Friday September 25 for a road game against Lakeshore then return home on Saturday when they host Amherstburg.  Game time 7:30 at the Moore Recreation Centre.
