Mooretown Flags Celebrate Second OT Win on the Weekend

After defeating the Lakeshore Canadiens 4 - 3 in OT on Friday in Belle River the Flags returned home on Saturday and took the same score OT win over Amherstburg.

The Flags opened the scoring at 1:01 in the first period with Ben Morrison from Cameron Rannie and Kyle Smith to take an early lead.  Amherstburg answered back at 3:38 and the score remained the same tied at 1 -1 to end the first period.

Second period saw Amherstburg scored 2 unassisted goals the first by Luke Gangnon at :24 seconds into the period and the last by Chad Copeland at 18:19 to take a 3 - 1 lead.

The Flags came back in the third scoring two goals with the same line scoring with Cameron Rannie from Kyle Smith and Ben Morrison
getting the goal at 2:27.  The tying goal came at 18:35 by Nolan Riley assisted by Brent Blais and Landon Wilson.  With the score tied at 3 - 3 the game went into overtime where at the 3:24 minute mark Dawson Vautour scored the game winner assisted by Brent Blais and Alec Segers.

Both teams were scoreless on the power play.  Mooretown had two opportunities and Amherstburg had four.

Amherstburg outshot the Falgs 51 - 30 and Brandon Johnson picked up his second win on the weekend making 48 saves.

The Flags are now 4 - 2 so far this season and are back in action next Saturday Oct 3 when they host Dresden at the Moore Recreation Centre with a puck drop at 7:30 pm.
