Lapointe Makes History Rolling Back to Back Perfect Games

Bowling Scores for Week Ending Feb. 13, 2016
 

            History was made this week in Lambton County Tenpin Association bowling action as Jim Lapointe fired back to back sanctioned perfect games. This accomplishment has never happened before in the old Sarnia And District Tenpin Association and the present LCTA until this past Thursday night at Marcin Bowl. 

        Lapointe was wheeling an explosive ball as he posted 845 (300 – 82 pins over average – 300 -245 – 191 pins over average for three games) in the Marcin Thursday Night Men’s League. He was participating on lanes 33 & 34 tossing his career 3rd and 4th perfect games in his first two games of the night. He rolled the first 27 strikes leaving a 4 pin on his next shot, ending the night with 33 out of a possible 36 strikes in route to his career 3rd 800 series. They were his first perfect games at Marcin Bowl. His other two 300’s were tossed at Hi-Way Bowl.

        Honourable mention goes to Chris Chaves, Dawn Pelkie, Brett Zevenbergen and Steve Lewicki for their efforts on the lanes.

         Chaves was the men’s winner of the LCTA Scholarship Handicap Tournament which was held from January 11th to January 24th at Airey Lanes, Hi-Way Bowl and Marcin Bowl. He secured the victory in the Thursday Night Men’s League at Marcin Bowl.

         Pelkie was the ladies winner of the LCTA Scholarship Handicap Tournament recording the triumph in the Tuesday Night Ladies League at Marcin Bowl. 

          Zevenbergen, a youth bowler partaking in the RCAFA 403 Mixed League at Hi-Way Bowl, had a great night tossing 719 (264).

          Lewicki hurled 290- 11 strikes in a row in the RCAFA 403 Mixed Wing League at Hi-Way Bowl.         .

           The men’s and ladies Scholarship Handicap Tournament was held over a two week period with bowlers competing against each other in different leagues. Each bowler paid a nominal entry fee and used their scores for that particular night. Half of the entry fee went into the Youth Scholarship Fund and the other half was paid out to the winning bowlers. There were 167 men’s entries. The top eight paid positions in the men’s division with their total score with games over 250 and scratch scores in brackets were  Chris Chaves 866 – 259 - (674), Mark Brooker 838 (643), Caulin Fraser 833 – 257 - (614), Mike Marciniszyn 832 – 279-255 (760), Brian Long 829 (652), Al Scott  828 (687), John Lynett 822 (570) and Seth Hicks 821 (581). Scratch scores over 700 were Steve Lewicki 779 (253-269-257), Mike Shephard 744 (267), Steve Lewicki 733 (269), Pat Lacasse 727 (255), Dave LeClair 705 (279-258), Kevin McMillan 703 (259), Steve Lewicki 703, Glenn Crowe 700 (300) and Chris Luke 700 (253). Other games over 250 were Corey Willemsen 276, Mike Marciniszyn 269, Dave LeClair 260, Rob Vandermeer 258, Jim Lapointe 258, Stephane Sirois 258 and Roy Mezzatesta 258.

        There were 112 entries in the ladies division. The top six paid positions with their total score with games over 210 and scratch scores in brackets were Dawn Pelkie 855 – 235-255 (696), Melissa Crowe 830 – 247-278 (710), Kate Phillips 819 (465), Jeannine Bacon 813 (492), Pearl Brown 803 (497) and Diane Ross 800 (446). Scratch triples over 600 were Pam Marciniszyn 705 (224-246-235), Dara Sinclair 605 (211-236) and Laura Robertson 603 (219). Other games over 210 were Kathryn Tetreault 223, Janice McMillan 220, Bev Rankin 212 and Susan McGrath 210.  

           Marcin Bowl Shoot Out Six will take place on March 1st at 6:30. If thirty two bowlers take the challenge, there will be 16 qualifying spots.

           Dennis Ramsay rolled 731 (258-236-237) in Marcin Bluewater Monday Night Men’s League combat. The ladies’ high scores were Susan McGrath 571 (205), Wendy Street 494 (201) and Elly Allsupp 481. Topping off the men’s scores were Don Szokoly 579 (237), Mel Matthews 560 and Jesse Burr 235.        In Marcin Friday Night Mixed League fun, the men’s high scores were Ray Lucas 607 (257), Dave Urban 605 (203-205) and Paul Heckley 223. The ladies’ main scores were Barb Montgomery 541 (209-199), Mary Hearns 459 (186) and Barbara Heckley 450 (194). Team standings are Pin Tricks 7, Splitters 7, Gutterbusters 7, Striking Power 3, Wicked Pins 3 and Split Ends 3.

       In Marcin St. Joe’s Mixed League action, the men’s notable scores were Jerry Brody 605 (235), Joe Bourgeois 602 (211-212), Marcel Lajoie 570 (202-200), Joe Borody 217 and Gary Rochon 207 – 77 pins over average. The women were led by Tonie Verbeek 494 and Diane Albert 452 (178).

       In Marcin Sunday Morning Ladies League ado, leading scores were Michelle Fraser 533 (181), Cheryl Millar 521 (194), Roxanne English 483 (177), Joy Timington 481 and Steph Chambers 189-180. Team standings are Sapphires 57, Gosh Garnet 43, Diamonds In Rough 43, Peridot Pinheads 41, Opal 41 and Pearls Of Wisdom 40.

       In Airey Lanes Sunday Night Mixed League activity, the men’s top scores were Harold Peters 520 (171-182), Albert Peters 507 (193) and Ralph Noyle 476 (170). The women’s best scores were Pam Bullock 484 (179-165), Bev Rankin 452, Dorothy Inglis 447, Mary Bradburn 163 and Michelle Fraser 160. Team standings are Beatles 38, Fire Ants 32, The Beer Bugz 27, Fire Flies 27, Bowl Weevils 23 and Praying Mantis 20.

        In the Hi-Way Youth Phantoms Senior division, the high rollers were Brett Zevenbergen 620 (221-212) and Connor Smith 575 (213-208).

        In the Hi-Way Youth Phantoms Junior division, the boys’ high scores were Nick Lapointe 596 (226-194), Cole Barber 487 (181), Nic Peckham 444 (199) and Matthew Waun 407. The girls’ notable scores were Amber Watson 428 (159-145), Shayla Crouse 380 (139-132), Paisley Wood 327 (132) and Emily Harris 307.

        In the Hi-Way Youth Phantoms Intermediate division, the gents’ upper scores were Zac Grimme 525 (188), Colton Smith 502 (193-186) and Jack Peckham 443. The ladies’ best scores were Isadora Tremblay 450 (165-163), Kaela Koundakjian 395 (148-141), Makenna Schuyler 338 and Taelor Koundakjian 328.

        In the Hi-Way Youth Phantoms Bantams/Preps division, leading scores were Elsa McKinley 287 (102-94-91), Kyleigh Beauvais Chad 272 (113), Tyleigh Winger 269 (91), Laurianne Tremblay 256 (111), Cali Smith 243 (94), Zachary Ingles 219 (77-73) and Shaylyn Blake 177.

        In the Hi-Way Youth Phantoms Bumpers division, the top bumpers were Sophia Majeski 129 (66-63) and Layla Stothers 100 (51-49).       

        In the Marcin SMAA Senior/Junior/Intermediate division, the gents’ noted scores were Joshua Trott 575 (226), Jacob Bestard 494 (170-175), Branden Riberdy 486 (210), Brian Riberdy 454 (178),  Ethan Boucher 412 (154), Grant Remes 408 (140), Aiden Osborn 398 (144), Patrick Cullis 378, Pat Gray 368 (135-133) and Craig Machan’s 142 single.
