Before Saturday's game the Mooretown Flags honoured the Mooretown Jr. Flags Bantam Rep team on ice to acknowledge their 2016 International Silver Stick Finals Championship win in Forest, January 22 - 24.

After defeating Penetang Flames 2-1 in OT, Petrolia Oilers 5-3 and Syracuse, NY Thunder 4-1 in the Round Robin the first-seeded Jr. Flags then took down Littleton, CO Hawks 5-2 in the Semi-Final.

In an epic Final that was decided on a penalty shot in the 3rd Overtime period the Jr. Flags beat Petrolia 2-1 to take the coveted International Silver Stick title.

Following the team introductions the Flags made a very special presentation to overage goaltender Brandon Johnson.  Johnson who is in his final season with the Flags began his Jr. C career in 2012.  Johnson was named Great Lakes Jr. C Hockey league player in September, 2015.  2015-2016 marked his best season with a record of 16-13-1-1 GA 97 GAA 3.21.  His overall record as a Flag after 125 games is 51-56-1-1 GA445 GAA 3.73. 

After Saturdays final regular season game and win against Blenheim, Brandon was honoured by his teammates when they formed the traditional stick guard of honour as he left the ice.
