High levels of lead have plagued Flint's municipal water supply for at least a year, prompting extensive emergency measures to keep residents safe.

Last Friday night, the Sarnia Sting and the Flint Firebirds squared off in game one of a home-and-home between the two clubs at the SSEC. The Sting encouraged fans to bring monetary donations & set aside $2 from each ticket purchased at the Box Office for the cause.

The grand total being donated back to the Flint Water Crisis is $6,574.73 and includes generous donations from the Northend Dental Centre, Kel-Gor Limited, and D&S Service Centre LTD. In terms of bottles, the grand total of funds raised would be able to purchase 78,896 bottles of water for Flint, MI.

Sarnia Sting President, Bill Abercrombie comments, “We’d like to thank our fans and the people of Sarnia for once again showing tremendous support to a worthy cause. The reception from Sarnia-Lambton was outstanding. I’d like to personally thank the companies who jumped on board, and helped us surpass our expectations.”
