Mooretown Flags Fall to Lakeshore in OT

The Mooretown Flags were in Belle River at the Atlas Centre Friday night and suffered a 4 - 3 loss in over time against the Lakeshore Canadiens in Great Lakes Jr. C league action.

 

Lakeshore took a 3 - 0 lead with a first period goal by Hunter Corp then they went on and scored two back to back shorthanded goals with the first in the first by Colin Sartor at 18:30 and in the second at 5:07 by Zack Bedard.

 

The Flags battled back and and narrowed the gap to 3 - 2 in the second with Jakob Reeves from Joe DeSena scoring the first goal at 8:08 then at 18:18 Colton Osborne from Mike Kindrachuk added the second goal.

 

Cameron Rannie scored an unassisted goal at 5:34 in the third to tie the game and the score remained the same after regulation time sending the game in over time. 

 

It took just :13 seconds in the over time period for Lakeshore's Michael Long to score and take the win.

 

Shots on goal were 36 - 35 in Mooretown's favour.  Brandon Johnson took the loss with 31 saves,   Nick Seguin was given the win sharing the duties with Tyler Ryan.  Ryan made 21 saves, Seguin made 12.

 

The Flags continue to struggle in their power play after being denied in seven opportunities.  Lakeshore also went scoreless in three opportunities.

 

The Flags remain in fourth place, three points ahead of Lakeshore with a record of 19-12-2-2. 

Tonight (Saturday Jan 16) at home the Flags can tie things up with Amherstburg for third spot. The two teams have met four times so far this season with Mooretown leading the series 3 - 1. 

 

Tonight's game begins at 7:30 pm at the Moore Sports and Recreation Centre.
