Mooretown Flags Edged Out by Sharks

The Mooretown Flags were edged out by the Wheatley Sharks Monday taking a 1 - 0 loss in regular season action in the Great Lakes Jr. C. Hockey League.

 

The Flags power play was ineffective as they were scoreless on eight opportunities. The only goal scored was a short handed goal in the second period by Wheatley's Mitchell Prudence.

 

Wheatley was also scoreless on the power play given only one chance.

 

Mooretown outshot the Sharks 32 - 22.  Nolan Hakr suffered the loss made 21 saves.  Eric Morneau earned the shutout win stopping all 32 shots.

The top 3 teams are secured with Essex leading with 69 points followed by Amherstburg 50 and Blenheim 49.

 

Three teams are jockeying for fourth place.  Lakeshore is currently in fourth with 43 points, Mooretown is in fifth with 42 and Wheatley is in sixth with 40.  Each team have two games remaining in the regular season.

 

The Flags are back in action on Friday night in Alvinston.  Alvinston is currently in eighth with 28 points and a record of 11-21-1-5.  The two teams have met four time previously this season with Mooretown winning all four.

 

The final regular season game will be at home on Saturday January 30th against Blenheim.
