Zachary Senyshyn led the way for
the Greyhounds as they topped
the Sting by a score of 5-2 at
the SSEC on Thursday night.
Justin Fazio started the game in
goal for the Sting, allowing 4
goals on 30 shots before being
relieved in the third period
following a collision in the
crease.
Pavel Zacha netted 2 goals in
his return to the lineup after
missing four games with an upper
body injury. Zacha now has 25
goals on the year.
Blake Speers opened the scoring
on the power play with 5:47
remaining in the first period.
Zachary Senyshyn and Gabe
Guertler drew the assists and
the Hounds took a 1-0 lead into
the first intermission.
The Greyhounds scored twice in
the middle frame - first a power
play goal by Zachary Senyshyn,
followed by Mac Hollowell's
first of the season. Sault Ste.
Marie held a 3-0 advantage after
40 minutes.
Zacha got the Sting on the board
just 3:13 into the second
period, giving the Sting a much
needed spark. Troy Lajeunesse
and Jakob Chychrun drew the
assists.
That spark fizzled as Gabe
Guertler restored the 3-goal
lead with his 24th of the
campaign just 3 minutes later.
Zacha netted his second of the
night on a short-handed
breakaway before Senyshyn added
an insurance marker for the
Greyhound late in the period.
The Sting are back in action
Friday night when they play host
to the Windsor Spitfires at the
SSEC. Friday's game could be
stamped as the most important
game of the season for Sarnia as
they remain 1 point ahead of the
Spitfires for first in the OHL's
West Division. Puck drop for
Friday's game is set for 7:05.
